The Adaptive Ski Program
is staffed by a yearly average of 150 volunteer instructors, many
certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America. The majority
of these instructors are professionals between the ages of 28 -
40, are intermediate to advanced skiers, and take an active interest
in community affairs. Instructors receive four days of intensive,
hands on training with yearly updates. Training includes disability
specific issues such as medications, behaviors, equipment fit, teaching
styles, etc.
Each volunteer is asked
to contribute six teaching days each winter. Opportunity to teach
additional days is available. Some positions involve non skiing
roles just in case you are not proficient on skis. Instructor incentives
among other important topics are discussed at the Volunteer Orientation
Meeting in November. See the Season
Schedule for dates.
Be apart of the winter fun and help others
to ski. An Instructor Application can be obtained by clicking on
the Forms
section of this web site. Additional questions can be addresses
by calling the corresponding staff member listed in the Contact
Us section of this web site.
