Level 4 – (Beginner/Intermediate – Wedge Christy turns on green and easy blue runs)

Level 5 – (Intermediate – Wedge Christy turns to beginning parallel on blue runs)

(Private lessons are offered throughout the season to visiting adaptive skiers and snowboarders and those not participating in the six-week program.)

TEACHING METHOD PREFERENCES – please check all that apply: *

4-track – assisting a student who skis with standard equipment in conjunction with outriggers (hand-held crutches with mini skis attached to the base of each to aid in balance)

3-track – assisting a student, usually an amputee, who skis with standard equipment and outriggers

Mono-ski – assisting a student who uses a ski-down ski know as a “mono-ski”. Student has significant upper body strength. Instructors must be a level 7-8 skier and able to lift moderate to heavy loads.

Bi-ski – assisting a student who uses a sit-down ski known as a “bi-ski”. Unlike the mono skier, a bi-skier lacks the physical strength to ski independently and is tethered by the instructor. Instructors must be a level 7-8 skier and able to lift moderate-heavy loads.

Cognitive – Cognitive refers to the area of instruction in greatest need of volunteers. Students may have autism, Down syndrome, developmental delays or severe learning issues. Standard ski equipment is used, sometimes with adaptive equipment aids.

Hearing impaired – Instructors must know ASL – sign language

Visually Impaired – Instructors must be a level 6 skier or above

Snowboarding – students mostly fall into the cognitive category

New volunteers are required to attend 4 days of training during the first two weekends in January

Volunteers must commit to all the program days for their teaching day.

Volunteers are responsible for their own personal injury insurance.
As a trained ASP volunteer instructor, you are covered under a liability insurance policy while participating in any ASP training or teaching activity. However, ASP has no personal injury or worker’s compensation for volunteers.

When submitting this application please complete the waiver of liability by signing in both places (in
blue or black ink) and returning with the application. If you do not want the ASP to use any photos,
video, and or film of you please indicate “no” on the waiver – do not leave blank.
